BookOrbit Android - Privacy Policy

BookOrbit Android is a client app for BookOrbit, a self-hosted digital library server. This policy explains how the app handles your data.

Your server, your data

BookOrbit is not a hosted service operated by the developer. When you use this app, you connect it to a BookOrbit server that you (or someone you trust) run and control — the app does not talk to any server operated by the developer. All data described below is sent only to the server address you configure, and is stored there under your control, not by the developer or any third party.

What the app handles

• Account credentials / sign-in tokens — used to authenticate you to your configured server. Tokens are stored on-device using Android's encrypted storage (EncryptedSharedPreferences) and are sent only to that server.
• Library and reading data — book metadata, reading/listening progress, collections, and search queries, exchanged with your configured server to provide the app's features.
• Downloaded book files — stored locally on your device for offline reading/listening when you choose to download a title.

What the app does not do

• No analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs are included in the app.
• No data is sold, shared with advertisers, or sent to any third party.
• No data is sent to the developer of this app.

Permissions

The app requests network access (to reach your server), notification and foreground-service permissions (to show playback controls and continue audiobook playback in the background), and wake-lock (to keep audio playing while the screen is off). None of these are used to collect data beyond what's described above.

Data deletion

Because your data lives on your own server, you can delete it there at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all locally cached data and downloaded files from your device.
